Stress…it may be more than that

So this has just been on my heart today…maybe because my day was a little more stressful to me than normal. I don’t know. I just feel the need to maybe help somebody today. I don’t normally tell people my business (for obvious reasons), but if you want to listen, then listen, of not then listen anyway this may benefit you. A few months ago I was diagnosed with a disease called Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis after going to a therapist for anxiety and depression, post partum issues (I just had baby Kynsley), and overall stress. I literally thought I was going crazy. Hashimotos disease iswhere your body produces these antibodies, the antibodies attack your thyroid, then your thyroid loses hormones and then your body goes to crap. Symptoms are depression, anxiety, feeling cold, weight gain/loss, mood swings, just to name a few. I saw a therapist because I was ready to divorce my husband over leaving his sweatpants in the middle of our bedroom floor. Come to find out my hormones are just out of whack. Scary stuff, right? Believe me when I first found out, I was scared and confused, and I just cried my eyes out. But then I spoke to an endocrinologist and she gave me some good information and good hormone replacement medication. As long as I take it I feel pretty good.

Well I ran out of medication and didn’t get a chance to pick it up until this afternoon and man I didn’t realize that I was having a “Hashi flare up” until it was too late. My stress level was so high I could feel the vein in my neck hurting. Never again. I feel like now that I know what’s wrong with me and I kind of know how to deal with it, I want to help people. The first 60 days I have been just taking hormone medication, no diet change. According to other Hashi sufferers, changing my diet by going gluten free and eating Paleo and Auto Immune Paleo is supposed to help. So I’m going to try it and keep you posted. We’ll see what happens. But I felt like I needed to get it off my chest. If you have any of those symptoms, do yourself a favor and ask you doctor to check your thyroid and also check you for Hashimoto’s disease.
